As an English Hub, we are able to provide you with funding to buy training and/or resources to help you improve your provision of early reading.
We can provide you with match funding (up to £3,000) or, funding (up to £6,000), depending on your school’s circumstances. Eligibility for the higher level of funding is for schools meeting any of the two following criteria:
- lower than average percentage of pupils meeting the expected standard in the phonics screening check (82%);
- low attainment in the bottom 20% of children;
- a higher than average proportion of children eligible for pupil premium (22.9%);
- Ofsted judgement of Requires Improvement or Inadequate;
- a high proportion of groups considered hard to reach such as boys;
- schools referred by local partners (e.g. NLEs, LAs, Opportunity Area teams).
Funding can be used in any way that promotes the focus areas of the English hubs: early language development; age-appropriate phonics provision; and promoting a love of reading. As part of the support we provide with action planning, we will help you decide where funding can be most effectively used.
For funding, you will need to complete the eligibility form. Once you have done this, we will be in touch with you to discuss next steps.
