Expert advice and support for eligible schools from one of our DfE-trained Literacy Specialists. Our audits help leaders to identify current good practice, highlight areas for development and plan clear, achievable next steps towards outstanding phonics and early reading provision.
Early Reading Audits
The audit process lasts one day, for which eligible schools can claim £100 for the release of the Reading/Phonics Leader.
Outline of the Audit Process:
- Preliminary conversation with the school’s SLT to decide on school priorities.
- Learning walk with Reading/Phonics leader & SLT to review phonics teaching and early reading learning environments.
- Self-assessment of school’s provision using latest guidance from the English Hub Council and Ofsted.
- Literacy Specialist co-writes an action plan with the Reading/Phonics Leader, making clear actionable next steps to improve the provision.
- Literacy Specialist provides details of possible grants towards phonics resources and training.
